2 injured in Christmas Day plane crash

SPREAD EAGLE, Wis. — Two people were transported to the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain after a Saturday morning plane crash in the area of Menominee River Road in Spread Eagle, Wisconsin.

Florence County dispatch was alerted around 8:38 a.m. Saturday by the Dickinson County dispatch of a 911 call reporting a plane crash, according to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office. Both Dickinson County and Florence County dispatches were able to provide GPS coordinates to locate the scene, police said.

Numerous agencies from Florence and Dickinson counties responded to the scene. The two people were treated by EMS units and transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. The investigation will be completed by the Federal Aviation Administration, police said.

“Special thanks to all agencies who responded and located the site and rendered aid,” police said in a news release.
