MARQUETTE — No injuries were reported after a garage fire broke out at a residence in the city of Marquette on Sunday.

At around 3:30 p.m., the Marquette City Fire Department was dispatched to a residence at 1614 Wilkinson Ave. for a reported garage fire, according to a news release. Upon arrival to the scene, firefighters observed heavy smoke and fire conditions coming from the front of the detached garage. The fire was contained to the front area of the garage and crews had the blaze under control within 20 minutes.

The amount of damage sustained in the fire is unknown.

The Marquette City Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Marquette Police Department, the Marquette Township Fire Department and UP Health Systems EMS, as well as the Chocolay Township Fire Department, who assisted with a station coverage assignment.
