Man dies in Chocolay Twp. shooting

HARVEY — Chocolay Township Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 700 block of Willow Road on Tuesday evening.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a 37-year-old male with two gunshot wounds to the chest. Lifesaving measures began immediately. The male was transported to UP Health System – Marquette where he died from his wounds.

Another man at the residence suffered a non-life-threatening knife wound and was treated at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Officals said no arrests have been made at this time and there is no danger to the public. The incident remains under investigation. Names are not being released pending review by the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Chocolay Township Police Dept. were assisted by the Michigan State Police, Marquette County Sheriff’s Office and UP Health Systems EMS.
