MARQUETTE — A body was located in Lake Superior today but has not yet been identified, the Marquette Police Department reported.

The body was found at approximately 1:26 p.m., according to the Marquette Police Department. The decedent was located northwest of Partridge Island in an area where the search for a kayaker who went missing July 21 had previously been conducted, officials said.

Officers with MPD and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office recovered the body from the water. The body was then transported to UP Health System – Marquette.

The body has not been identified. Once an identity is confirmed, further information will be released, police said.
