4 hikers rescued from Hogback Mountain over weekend

MARQUETTE — Four hikers were rescued from Hogback Mountain Saturday night after becoming caught in a rainstorm.

At approximately 9:07 p.m., the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the lost group, who were unable to locate the trail to descend the mountain.

One person became separated from the group. The subject was able to use their cell phone to call 911 for help, which allowed Marquette County Central Dispatch to pinpoint the group’s location.

The Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team responded to the area and located all four of the missing subjects, leading them safely down the mountain and back to their vehicle.

The sheriff’s office said the group was from out of the area. No injuries were reported.
