Man arraigned on charges related to drugs, stolen firearm possession
ESCANABA — A 41-year-old man from Escanaba has been arraigned on several drug-related charges and a charge of receiving and concealing a stolen firearm.
Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team were investigating the distribution of drugs, including crystal methamphetamine, out of a house in Escanaba, UPSET reported. The investigation led to a search warrant being served at the suspect’s residence on Wednesday.
The search and investigation led to the discovery and seizure of around 34 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine; a small amount of heroin/fentanyl; electronic devices, including a digital scale; $3,662 in cash; and a loaded handgun that had been reported stolen, police said.
The suspect, Jimmy Pethers, was lodged in the Delta County Jail on these charges: possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a drug house, and receiving and concealing a stolen firearm.
Pethers was arraigned on Thursday in the 94th District Court in Escanaba.
His bond was set at $175,000 cash.
UPSET was assisted by the Michigan State Police Hometown Security Teams, Delta County Sheriff’s Office and Escanaba Public Safety.
