Gould City man charged with murder

ST. IGNACE — Brian Michael Webb, 42, of Gould City was arraigned on Tuesday afternoon in the 92nd District Court of Mackinac County on a single charge of open murder.

The victim, 30-year-old Johnathon Palmer of Engadine, was Webb’s brother, the Michigan State Police St. Ignace Post said.

Troopers had been dispatched to a residence in Gould City at about 11 a.m. Monday for a report of a suspicious situation, and upon arrival “troopers observed several indicators of foul play,” police said in a news release. Troopers contacted witnesses in the area, which led to information regarding a possible homicide, police said.

A search warrant was then prepared and executed at the residence. Further investigation revealed a deceased male subject at the residence who had been shot. The homeowner was also located during this time and taken into custody, police said.

Troopers were assisted by deputies from the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office as well as the MSP Forensic Lab, MSP Aviation Unit and the MSP Emergency Support Team.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released.
