15th annual event set for Father’s Day weekend in Gwinn

GWINN — The 15th annual Great Lakes Rodeo is set for its traditional Father’s Day weekend.

The venue, however, is new. The rodeo, presented by The Sisters Rodeo Co., will take place at the ice racing track at 150 W. Johnson Lake Road in Gwinn.

There are three days of activities:

Friday, June 18

≤ Free admission for IBRA barrel racing and NBHA starting at 6 p.m.

Saturday, June 19

≤ 8 a.m., gates open

≤ 9 a.m., GLR jackpot speed show

≤ 1 p.m., Round robin team roping/ breakaway roping

≤ 7 p.m., first rodeo performance

≤ 9:30 p.m., afterparty at the Gwinn VFW with Starr Lyrics

Sunday, June 20

≤ 9 a.m., gates open

≤ 10 a.m., cowboy church

≤ 10 a.m., pony pulls

≤ 3 p.m., second rodeo performance

People are encouraged to wear pink to the rodeo on Sunday in support of breast cancer awareness.

Also on that Sunday, dads get in free when attending the rodeo with their families.

Admission for those 13 and over is $10 in advance, $12 at the gate. For children ages 6-12, admission is $6 at the gate, $5 in advance. For seniors age 65 and up, admission is $8 per day.

All money raised during the Great Lakes Rodeo are used to fund the grants available for youth programs in Marquette County.
