MARQUETTE — The Third Street Marketplace business complex is expected to open this fall, offering new dining and entertainment options.

The reconstruction of the building, formerly known as Valle’s Village Market on North Third Street, is now in full force.

The building will be completely renovated and reconstructed so that locals and tourists can enjoy the new development later this year.

Joe Constance, owner of Iron Bay Restaurant and Drinkery– and of the complex under reconstruction–described the renovation process.

“It’s taking a vacant building, obviously, that was an eyesore and not paying any in taxes –or very little in taxes — and converting it into a place where there is going to be seven new buisnesses and employing up to–I think we figured– 70 people,” he said.

The building will have a patio adjacent to the parking lot. Individual business doors will be accessible from the patio, where people can lounge and possibly enjoy live outdoor music, indulge in baked goods from the Peace Pie Company, or enjoy a cold beer from Cognition Brewing Company.

Constance plans for five businesses to open this fall alongside the two food trucks already operating at that location.

“We have the game store going in the middle and he will be doing activities,” Constance said. “He has got a meeting room and he also sells his games. The rest of (the buisnesses) are all food service or beer related.”

Six of the seven buisnesses will be,

≤ Cognition Brewing Co.

≤ Taiga Comics & Games

≤ Peace Pie Company

≤ Boulanger’s

≤ Fish Express

≤ Ultimate Sandwich Co.

Aside from the diverse food and beverage offerings, locals and tourists alike can look forward to plenty of entertainment and activities beginning this fall and in the months following.
