Student fabricated ‘threat’ that closed Gwinn schools today

GWINN — Gwinn Area Community Schools reported the threat that resulted in the closure of the district on Monday “out of an abundance of caution” was fabricated by a student.

According to a news release, GACS students and staff were out of school during the day to investigate the threat, which was a report of a high school student who was to have a gun in school on Monday.

GACS said the Forsyth Township Police Department and school administration conducted a “thorough” investigation of the incident. The joint conclusion was that the story was fabricated by the reporting student.

“We thank our community and parents for their patience while we worked through the numerous pieces to ensure our GACS students and staff are safe at school,” the announcement read.

School was to resume Tuesday.
