Police: Human remains ID’d as missing woman

MENOMINEE INDIAN RESERVATION, Wis. — Human remains that were recently discovered have been determined to be those of Katelyn Kelley, who was reported missing in June, the Menominee Tribal Police in Wisconsin reported Monday.

Tribal police, assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, announced that on Wednesday it investigated human remains found on the Menominee Indian Reservation. An autopsy was performed Monday on those remains, and a positive identification was made, police said.

The investigation into Kelley’s whereabouts, according to tribal police, originally began when she was reported missing by her family on June 18.

She was last seen during the night of June 16 or the early morning of June 17.

Kelley, 22, was seen on the Menominee Indian Reservation near County Highway VV and Silver Canoe Road at about 10:30 p.m. June 16.

The Menominee Tribal Police Department and the FBI continue the investigation into Kelley’s death.
