VA Medical Center marks 1,000th dose of vaccine

Don Michelin, who served with the U.S. Army’s 1st Infantry Division from 1966-68 in Vietnam, receives the 1,000th dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at the Iron Mountain VA’s community based outpatient clinic in Manistique on Saturday. Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center is currently calling veterans that are 75 years old or older, or are in one or more of the following categories: homeless, a spinal cord injury, transplant, dialysis, oncology patient or other high-risk comorbidities, officials said. More doses of the vaccine have been ordered and as they arrive, staff will call and schedule more veterans, according to the VA center.
