A fire broke out at the Marquette County Landfill this morning. Firefighters have the blaze under control as of 10 a.m. There are no further details at this time. (Journal photo by Ryan Spitza)

SANDS TOWNSHIP — Several local fire departments have reportedly responded to a fire at the Marquette County Landfill in Sands Township, operated by the Marquette County Solid Waste Management Authority.

Little information is available presently other than it is apparently a sizable blaze. It’s unknown if there are injures or property damage. However, a source at the landfill told The Mining Journal that the fire has been brought under control.
