FORD RIVER — A 12-year-old boy is dead as the result of an accident involving a semi and a bicyclist in Delta County, police said.

According to the Delta County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, deputies responded to the scene of the accident on M-35 in Ford River at 1 p.m on Sunday.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The accident remains under investigation, officials say.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family,” the post states.

The Michigan State Police, Ford River Volunteer Fire Department, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Rampart EMS, Delta County Central Dispatch, and the Delta County Victim Services Unit assisted at the scene.
