Names being withheld in US 41 crash

ISHPEMING — The Ishpeming Police Department on Friday issued an update on the three-vehicle personal-injury accident that took place near U.S. 41 and Malton Road at 12:35 p.m. Thursday.

A preliminary investigation showed that a westbound vehicle driven a 67-year-old Marquette man crossed over the center line, striking an eastbound vehicle driven by a 72-year-old L’Anse man.

The westbound vehicle driven by the Marquette man then struck a second eastbound vehicle driven by a 55-year-old female from Kalamazoo.

The Marquette man, along with the Kalamazoo resident and her 74-year-old male passenger, also from Kalamazoo, were transported to Upper Peninsula Health System-Marquette for treatment.

At this time, all three individuals are in stable condition and are expected to make a recovery.

A fourth car sustained damage due to striking debris in the roadway from the original collision.

No names are being released at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

Ishpeming police were assisted on the scene by the Ishpeming and Negaunee fire departments, Michigan State Police and its accident investigation team, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office and Negaunee City Police.
