Man dies from injuries after crossbow incident
BARAGA — A man died from injuries suffered after being shot with a crossbow during the early morning hours of Oct. 6.
The Baraga County Sheriff’s Office reported that at about 8:30 a.m., it responded to Baraga County Memorial Hospital to investigate an incident in which Ross Leo Fruin, 61, of Battle Creek was shot with a crossbow, allegedly by Randy Orin Cole, 65, from downstate Dowling.
The incident occurred in Arvon Township.
Fruin was transported to UP Health System-Marquette where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Cole was issued a citation for careless, reckless, negligent use of a bow and arrow causing injury or death.
The incident is still under investigation by the Baraga County Sheriff’s Office.
