MARQUETTE — City of Marquette voters soundly approved a senior millage renewal during Tuesday’s election, with 3,683 voting for the measure and 316 voting against.

The 0.35 millage renewal will allow the city to provide servies for those 60 years and older with the Marquette Senior Center. The millage will result in $0.35 for every $1,000 of taxable property value for a period of five years beginning in 2020 and ending in the fiscal year 2024.

The millage is expected to raise an estimated $239,138 in the first year it is levied.

Election results remain unofficial until the Marquette County Board of Canvassers verifies them at a 1 p.m. meeting today.
