Marquette County Commission District 2 seat voted on
MARQUETTE — Incumbent Joe Deroche will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot for a two year term in the District 2 seat on the Marquette County Board of Commissioners.
Deroche garnered 1,436 votes, while his challenger Sterling Schultz received 751 votes. One write-in vote was also cast.
According to the county website, the Marquette County Board of Commissioners is the policy-making body with other groups carrying out county policies and/or advising the commissioners while they are in the process of making policy.
District 2 consists of Negaunee Township, Ishpeming Township, Champion Township, Michigamme Township Republic Township, Humboldt Township and Ely Township.
County commissioners are elected to a two-year term.
Election results remain unofficial until the Marquette County Board of Canvassers verifies them at a 1 p.m. meeting today.
