Several downtown businesses on Main Street were spray-painted with symbols and some obscene language. Included in this incident was the “Old Ish” statue, with the suspects spray-painting the face and mid-section of the statue red.

It is believed the incidents occurred between 5 and 6 a.m.

The Ishpeming Police Department has interviewed some suspects after it received several tips from the public and developed a list of suspects, police said in a press release this morning. The investigation is continuing and tips have been continuing to come in, police said.

Anyone with information is still asked to call the police department at 906-486-4416 or via Facebook Messanger. The department is contacting all businesses affected during the incident.

The department also is asking anyone with cameras attached to their buildings in the area to review them and contact it if anything was captured on video.
