Pizza Hut to close on Sunday

Another location sought

MARQUETTE — The last day of business for the Pizza Hut restaurant located at 2131 U.S. 41 West, will be Sunday, the company has announced.

Michigan Pizza Hut, Inc., located in downstate St. Joseph, has owned the Pizza Hut since 1986, with the company noting it has “thoroughly enjoyed” the last 33 years it has been in Marquette.

“The good news is that we won’t be closed for long as we are actively looking for a new location for our restaurant to reopen and our hope is that is accomplished by no later than the end of 2020,” the company said in a statement. “Our decision to relocate the restaurant is driven by the positive changing landscape of Marquette and how best we can serve our customers.

“We care very deeply about the well-being of our team members that have been employed at our Marquette Pizza Hut location and we intend on working with our current employees in any way we can to help them as they transition into other employment in the area until we reopen.”

Michigan Pizza Hut Inc. provides jobs for approximately 1,250 team members throughout Michigan, it said.

“We would like to say ‘thank you’ to all our dedicated customers throughout the years who over time became our friends by their devoted patronage,” the company said. “We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone that has enjoyed one of our fine pizzas, pastas or chicken wings throughout the past three decades and can’t wait to see you again soon in our new restaurant.”

Starting at $3.23/week.
