Charlie Gardner, left, a founding member of the Michigamme Steam Team, serves spaghetti during a fundraiser on Sunday at the Michigamme Community Building. The 501(c)(3) needs to raise about $50,000 for the completion of a “Fire Hall” structure next to the Michigamme Museum on Main Street that will house the township’s 1900 Metropolitan steam engine, along with other historic vehicles and large artifacts. A group of township residents found the vehicle in 2007. It was first purchased as a state-of-the-art firefighting tool in Michigamme in 1900 and later sold in 1967. For more information on the steamer or building construction call 906-323-6311 or visit the website at www.michigammesteamfireengine.org. (Journal photo by Lisa Bowers)
