Man accused of shooting dog is arraigned

MARQUETTE — A Marquette man accused of shooting and killing a dog has been arraigned in 96th District Court in Marquette County.

William Dollar, 72, of Marquette, was arraigned Monday on the felony charges of animals — killing/torturing and weapons, felony firearm — pneumatic gun, according to court records.

The charges stem from an incident in Marquette that occurred May 12 along the 800 block of West Magnetic Street when the Marquette City Police Department responded to a report of an unleashed, dead dog that was shot with a .177 caliber pellet.

Police had searched the residence and found a pneumatic gun, along with .177 pellets. The dog was not Dollar’s dog, police said previously.

Dollar was arrested on the charges May 20. A probable cause conference will be held June 26, with a preliminary examination to be held July 2 in district court.
