Chocolay Raptor Center enthralls, educates

Jerry Maynard holds Phoenix the peregrine falcon, who is the first peregrine falcon born in Marquette in 60 years, at A Universe of Raptors event at the Peter White Public Library Monday morning. The center saves around 25 birds each year throughout the entire Upper Peninsula. Their mission is primarily the education of youth. “They’re the ones who are going to take care of the birds in the future and that’s a great thing for them to do,” said Bob Jensen, co-founder of the Chocolay Raptor Center.
