Meth bust suspects in court

MARQUETTE — The two men who were arrested in a mid-March methamphetamine bust in Marquette will soon face arraignment in 25th Circuit Court.

Brodie John Smith, 26, and Robert James Nancarrow, 37, both of Marquette, were arrested after police searched a West Fair Avenue home and seized “an overwhelming amount of meth components, finished meth product and two firearms,” according to a press release from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team.

Smith will be arraigned Friday on one count of controlled substance-operating/maintaining laboratory involving methamphetamine.

Nancarrow will be arraigned May 18 on the same charge.

The two men were each arraigned March 19 on those charges in 96th District Court and were subsequently bound over to circuit court.

The charges against Smith and Nancarrow stem from a March 16 search of a West Fair Avenue residence, which occurred after UPSET received a tip that meth-related components and firearms were located there, leading to the authorization of a search warrant.

The “vast amount of hazardous materials located in the residence” led to a five-hour closure of West Fair Avenue between Woodland and Woodridge avenues as officials searched the residence.

Smith and Nancarrow were arrested and lodged at the Marquette County Jail following the search.

Future court dates for the two men have not yet been set.
