NEGAUNEE — Negaunee Township residents approved the renewal of the fire protection millage by a wide margin Tuesday.

Residents voted 636-117 to levy the 2.5 mill, or $2.50 per $1,000 on all real property value, over the next 20 years during Tuesday’s primary elections. The millage funds the fire protection services within the township.

It’s estimated that the renewal of the millage will generate approximately $397,461 in the first year.
