Project Lift Ukraine UP to be held Saturday at Peterson Auditorium

ISHPEMING — Ishpeming’s Wesley United Methodist Church will host Project Lift Ukraine UP at 7 p.m. Nov. 12.

This event, organized in part by Dick Derby, has been a work in progress for several months.

It will be a fun night of local musical performances available to watch at the Peterson Auditorium in Ishpeming High School.

With the intention to provide humanitarian relief to the citizens of Ukraine, Wesley Methodist will host alongside St. John and St. Joseph Catholic churches of Ishpeming and Immanuel Lutheran Church of Negaunee.

Groups and artists such as Strictly Gospel, Time Keepers, Music Club, Toni Saari and Bill Hart will perform along with other surprise acts. Additionally, there will be a 50/50 raffle along with a silent auction of an artwork donated by Sandi Mager.

Tickets are $10 for an individual and $25 for a family. They are available at TruNorth Credit Union on U.S. 41 in Ishpeming, Jubilee Foods on U.S. 41 in Ishpeming, Elaine’s Store on Third Street. in Ishpeming, Globe Printing on Division Street in Ishpeming, Super One Foods on U.S. 41 in Negaunee or at the door on the evening of the event.

All proceeds from this event will go directly to overseas organizations working in Europe to help out citizens affected by the war in Ukraine.

These groups include the United Methodist Committee on Relief, Catholic Relief Services and Lutheran World Relief which all have a rich history in helping others.

Freewill offering boxes will be placed in the auditorium for all three organizations.

Derby said he offers a “special thanks to the people of the U.P. for their generous support of Project Lift Ukraine UP.” He’s hoping to find himself looking upon a packed auditorium on Saturday.
