MARQUETTE — Peter White Public Library has announced its August schedule:

Adult Summer

Reading Program

Summer reading isn’t just for kids. Join in the fun at the Peter White Public Library for Adult Summer Reading. Read a book, then fill out a bookmark (up to 10) from the library and return it to the Circulation Desk or the Reference Desk for a chance to win prizes just for adults. Bookmarks must be dropped off by Aug. 6 to be entered in the prize drawing. For more information, call 906-226-4311.

‘Mythical Monsters of Lake Superior’ Inspired Painting

Monday, Aug. 1 from 6-7 p.m. Peter White Public Library Great Room. Carol Phillips of the Liberty Children’s Art Project will lead participants through the painting of your own version of mythical monsters of Lake Superior. For youth ages 8+. Dissecting Anatomy of a Murder Presentation

Monday, Aug. 1, 7-8 p.m. Peter White Public Library Community Room. Teens, Adults, Seniors. Eugene Milhizer, Dean Emeritus and Professor of Law at Ave Maria School of Law, presents on his recently published book “Dissecting Anatomy of a Murder: The Author, the Crime, the Novel, and the Film.” The book is based, in part, on Milhizer’s extensive research of John Voelker’s journals and related materials housed at NMU. Judith Minty Yellow Dog Journal Celebration

Almost 45 years ago, poet Judith Minty published her collection “Yellow Dog Journal.” Since that time, Minty’s book has become a touchstone for writers, artists, and musicians of the Upper Peninsula.
