PWPL announces June youth events

Tails and Tales Summer Reading Kickoff

Monday, June 14-Wednesday, June 16. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Peter White Public Library Lower Level. Drop by during one of the three days for summer reading kickoff to get your reading log, animal bead take and make and more fun activities. Ages 0-14. Please only come to one day of the event; this event is drop in over the course of three days to help facilitate social distancing. Masks and social distancing required. Teens Read. Kickoff

LEGO Pod

Friday, June 18 and 25. 3-4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 19 and 24. 10:30 a.m.-noon and 3-4:30 p.m.

Peter White Public Library Lower Level. Register a small group for a LEGO Pod time slot and come build with the library LEGOS. Your Pod will be assigned a room to build, LEGOS must stay in the room. All ages, at least 1 adult must be present. Masks are required. Registration opens June 1. Call the Youth Services Department at 906-226-4323 to register. No admission charge. Kindness Club -Tree Planting

Friday, June 18. 12:30-2 p.m. Location TBD. The PWPL Kindness Club is teaming up with the Superior Watershed Partnership to conduct a massive tree planting in the community. Transportation will be required to and from the location. Registration will be required. No admission charge. Animal Bike Parade

Monday, June 21, 10 a.m. Matteson’s Lower Harbor Park, meet near the play structure. Rain dates same time and place all week. Join in for the first ever animal bike parade. Youth of all ages and families welcome. No registration is required. Kids are encouraged to either decorate their bike as their favorite animal or creature – option to dress up yourself as well. The parade will be a short ride on the bike path. Youth services will provide some crafting materials for your bike builds during Summer Reading Kick-Off at the library from June 14-16. June Kids Take and Make Kit Pickup #1

Monday, June 21. 10 a.m. Peter White Public Library Youth Services. Shark Tooth Digs. Chisel away and see what you can discover inside this fun Take and Make activity. Kits will be available for pick up, first come first serve, from the Youth Services room during PWPL’s open hours. For youth ages 4-12. No admission charge. Tiny Tot Sensory Bin Take and Play #1

Monday, June 21. 10 a.m. Peter White Public Library Youth Services. It’s a day, in the sand with this beach themed sensory bin. Pick up a sensory bin in the Youth Services room and then take it home for hours of play. Stop by and pick up your sensory bin to take home and keep for hours of fun. For youth ages 18 months to 3 years old. First come first serve while supplies last. No registration. No admission charge. Teens Read. Candy Sushi

Tuesday, June 22, 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., Peter White Public Library Community Room. Join Amanda to make candy sushi from some favorite candy. For students in grades 6-12. Park Storytime

Tuesdays June 22 and 29: 9:15 a.m. Lower Harbor Mattson Park, by the playground structure. Join for family storytime in the park. This interactive storytime is for families with kids of all ages. Join for animal tales, songs, dancing and more. We ask that you bring a family blanket(s) to sit on to help create space for social distancing. Masks are required during storytime. Tails and Tales Virtual Storytime: Facebook Live

Thursdays June 24: 9:15-9:45 a.m. Peter White Public Library Youth Services Facebook Live. Join on Facebook Live for summer Tails and Tales storytime. This storytime is great for kids of all ages. We will read stories, sing songs and more together. This storytime is different from our Storytime in the Park. Tails and Tales: Book Fair #1

Remember your reading logs. Attend only one day, of the first Book Fair, which take place over the course of three days to accommodate small groups and social distancing. Masks required.
