NMU alumni nominees sought

MARQUETTE — The Northern Michigan University Alumni Association Board of Directors is accepting nominations for its annual alumni awards program through Dec. 31.

The Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest honor. It recognizes graduates who have made transformative contributions to their disciplines, professions or society. Other factors include demonstrated leadership, international recognition and/or honors received that clearly distinguish individuals from their peers.

The Alumni Achievement Award recognizes graduates who have notable professional achievements on a local or regional level. Other factors include contributions to their communities and documented leadership at the regional or local level.

The Outstanding Young Alumni Award recognizes graduates under 36 years of age, as of Dec. 31 in the year submitted, who have distinguished themselves with great success at this stage of their life through exceptional accomplishment in one or more of the following: their chosen professions; community or civic service; and support of NMU.

The Alumni Service Award recognizes graduates who demonstrates exemplary service to their communities through volunteerism, civic endeavors or other contributions, or to NMU through service in support of the university’s advancement and continued excellence.
