Puppet show to be held on Feb. 29
MARQUETTE — On Feb. 29, the Peter White Public Library will present “The Fisherman and His Wife” as part of its “Once Upon a Time” puppet show series.
There will be two performances: one at 1 p.m. and another at 2 p.m. in the Community Room on the lower level of the library.
In this classic fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, a fisherman catches a talking fish who just so happens to be an enchanted prince. Wanting nothing to do with such a weird creature, the fisherman tosses him back to sea. The fisherman’s wife, however, insists that he go back and ask the fish for a favor. First she asks for a nice house, but then she wants more. Will her requests never end?
Veteran performers of the Vertigo Theatre Company bring their acting talents to the library puppet stage to present this well-loved story with some unique humorous twists. The shows are appropriate for all ages, especially families with young children.
There is no admission fee thanks to sponsorship by the Friends of the Peter White Public Library. For more information, visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
