Gwen Walz to visit Marquette

MARQUETTE — Gwen Walz, wife of governor and vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz, will visit Marquette to headline a Harris-Walz rally targeted at northern Michiganders. The event will be open to the public and more details will be shared soon.

Those interested in attending can contact their county Democratic office for more details.

On Saturday — the start of early voting in Michigan — Gwen Walz will continue her visit by traveling to Escanaba to motivate volunteers to knock on doors.

While in Michigan, she will speak about the Kamala Harris and Tim Walz campaign in the 2024 presidential election.

Other efforts to reach the Upper Peninsula included local media interviews with Tim Walz, visits from Pete Buttigieg’s husband, a rally hosted by Sen. Bernie Sanders as well as the Harris-Walz Reproductive Freedom Bus Tour stop in Marquette featuring Maya Harris, sister of Vice President Kamala Harris.

According to Harris-Walz campaign officials, these candidates would input a variety of policies that would benefit rural communities in the U.P. including the cutting of ambulance deserts in half, expanding the Child Tax Credit, providing financial assistance to first-time homebuyers and investments in agriculture.
