Great Lakes Cannabis Collaboration Conference set for Tuesday

MARQUETTE — The Great Lakes Cannabis Collaboration Conference will open at 8 a.m. Tuesday at Northern Michigan University.

It will showcase developing trends in cannabis education and scholarship, share insights from industry leaders and experts at the forefront of the sector’s evolving landscape, and summarize the state of the industry.

Featured speakers and panels, including one composed of NMU alumni working in the industry, are scheduled throughout the day.

Plenary speakers and their topics are: Cannabis Regulatory Agency Executive Director Brian Hanna, “Cannabis Regulations in Michigan: Where We Are Now and Where We Are Going?”; Signify Plant Specialist Martin Boerema, “Effective Use of LED Light in Cannabis Cultivation”; Signify Key Account Manager, “Applying Cultural Growing Practices Using LED Light in Cultivation”; and Hilary Bricken, partner at Husch Blackwell LLP, “Federal Policy Landscape Including Congress and the Executive Branch.”

Panel discussions will address cannabis regulations and leaders’ perspectives on cannabis equity. NMU alumni currently working in the industry will share their insights in a “Wildcat in the Weeds” panel.

This collaborative event aims to inspire progress in cannabis education and scholarship through open dialogue, exchange of information and ideas, and celebration of student and faculty success.
