Wisconsin businesses can get loans for weather losses

FLORENCE, Wis. (AP) — Businesses in Florence, Forest and Marinette counties have until Nov. 27 to apply for a federal disaster loan if they have suffered losses due to this year’s unusually mild winter, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers announced.

In a news release Saturday, Evers said he and U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wisconsin, have been working with the U.S. Small Business Administration to expand eligibility for Wisconsin businesses.

Businesses that suffered economic injury as a direct result of the lack of snow, including losses related to reduced winter tourist activity in the area, are eligible to apply for the U.S. SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans program.

Businesses may submit applications and find additional disaster assistance information at https://lending.sba.gov.

Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for more information on SBA disaster assistance.

Businesses in dozens of counties are eligible to apply, but the deadline varies by county.
