Kitchen talk

To the Journal editor:

In rebutting Ms. Britt’s rebuttal, my goodness ya’ll, God bless old man Joe’s heart! Our economy is humming, unemployment is low, gross domestic product is up and petroleum production and the Dow are at record highs. Greedflation might be taking a bite out of your backsides, but inflation has dropped like a rock in water.

If you would like to hurry things up a bit at home, consider having a go with those politicians interested in making daycare, education, and healthcare more affordable.

I hear that these same folks want to shore-up Social Security without reducing benefits and believe that your right-to-work for less is nonsense. You know, these are the silly little things that make life a tad bit better.

Ya’ll can grease-the-skids by ditching those legal-beagles who can’t see past immigration and guns, and who can’t seem to make their minds up. I hear that some of them are in so tight with big money and corporate campaign contributions that you couldn’t pry them apart with a crowbar.

Why, they are constantly trying to lower rich people’s taxes and reduce environmental regulations, you would think that there were some kind of shenanigans going on.

More refreshing than a summer-time rain in Alabama, we finally hear an acknowledgement of the fact that the tens-of-thousands of gun deaths annually are the fault of governors and legislators failing to pass common sense gun laws, and said with such passion and drama!

Now let’s be gracious and give a big-ol-hug to those leaders who embrace science! No fooling, contagious diseases and climate change are as real as baseball and apple pie!

Furthermore Ya’ll, it might be stimulating for some to cozy up to autocrats like a piglet to his mama, but the country is better served by a man who respects and preserves our democratic processes and institutions.

Somewhere, somebody’s momma said, if you give respect you get respect! You should never make things up or lie, and to treat others as if they were you.

Most of all, avoid those ill-mannered, crude and rude trouble-makers who can’t seem to obey the law or stay out of the courtroom.

So stop casting your pearls to where they do you no good. You can dream about going back to 1953 with the GOP, or you can back-a-Democrat and move forward in 2024, ya’ll.
