Down memory LANE

with Mary Jayne

This photograph of local Catholic dignitaries at the Sacred Heart Church in Munising was obviously taken years ago for one of many special events with the bishop from Marquette in attendance. Brings back many good memories. (Photo courtesy of Mary Jayne Hallifax)
I came across an assortment of pictures this past week, the first one to include a groundbreaking ceremony for Alger Maximum Security Prison in Munising which opened in 1990. Up front is Dominic J. Jacobetti, Pat Gagliardi and other local dignitaries to include John Hermann, William Mazzali, Spencer Nebel and Bill Whippen, to name a few. The governor who is not pictured, reiterated we would prefer to be building school instead of a prison, however this is what we needed at the time. (Photo courtesy of Mary Jayne Hallifax)
For the life of me my memory is nil on this stock, however it may have been for income to keep to Hotel Williams on Grand Island operable. Going to Grand Island in the summer to dine was quite a treat. The boat ride to and from and the dressy atmosphere made for memorable events. (Photo courtesy of Mary Jayne Hallifax)
