Wattson & Wattson manager earns Gemologist diploma

MARQUETTE — Wattsson & Wattsson Jewelers announced recently that its sales manager Lacee J. Hartzell earned a Graduate Gemologist diploma from the Gemological Institute of America).
According to a release from Wattson & Wattson, the achievement signifies Hartzell’s knowledge and expertise in the field of gemology.
The GIA Graduate Gemologist degree is the most respected and recognized credential in the jewelry industry. It is a rigorous program that requires a deep understanding of gemstones and their characteristics. By earning the GIA G.G. credential, Hartzell has demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of gemstone identification and grading, the release states.
Hartzell will be providing jewelry appraisals for all types of jewelry. She is available for intake appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at Wattsson & Wattsson Jewelers on West Washington Street in Marquette. Hartzell has worked at Wattsson & Wattsson Jewelers for 10 years. According to the GIA Alumni Directory, she is the only Graduate Gemologist working in a jewelry store in the Central Upper Peninsula.
In addition to her GIA diploma, Hartzell earned bachelor of science degree in 2010 and a masters degree in 2013, both from Northern Michigan University.
