West End Update – GINCC

New intern looks forward to GINCC run

ISHPEMING — Hi everybody, my name is Kadie Kaukola and I am a senior this year at Ishpeming High School and have been given the opportunity to do an internship here at Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce.

As my time at the high school has been dwindling down, that means I’ve had to start thinking of what to do next, and being here at GINCC, I am able and interested to test the waters in the business environment before deciding.

So a little about me. I have grown up going to school at Ishpeming while living about 30 minutes away in Champion.

In addition, I happen to be a proud third generation Hematite as well and have enjoyed the environment of the school and the community of Ishpeming along with their unwavering support.

I also thoroughly enjoy being a part of a team and learned this about myself at a young age starting with my first sport which was third grade basketball. This has snowballed into being a part of many other sports including tennis, volleyball, track and softball.

Those activities, along with time for family and friends,  tend to keep me on a very busy schedule. Even being immersed in this town for as long as I can remember, I still feel like there are still things I have yet to see and visit that are just under my nose.

Now would be a great time to go and explore with it being the onset of fall, which happens to be my favorite season.

Although this small place up here is extremely beautiful and has always been such a welcoming and homey setting to be in. I’ve heard it’s exceptionally different to live in other places, and I’d love to try somewhere new in my future.

Before I can do that though, I have to figure out my next step and that is why I am here. As an intern at GINCC I hope to get experience and help structure my times to come.

I am very thankful to have been given this opportunity and am excited to see what awaits me this next school year!
