Group files petition signatures in Moyle recall

By The Daily Press

ESCANABA — A group of residents seeking to remove Delta County Commission Chair Dave Moyle has officially filed signatures for his recall with the county clerk’s office.

By state law, recall petition signatures older than 60 days are automatically invalidated due to their age. However, the 823 signatures submitted Monday were all collected within a 47-day window — 40 days of active collection and a seven day break due to the Upper Peninsula State Fair — meaning no signatures are invalid based on age alone.

The signatures will now be verified by the county clerk’s office for other disqualifications, such as duplicate names, the signer not living within Moyle’s district (District 4), or other issues. The process is expected to be complete in 30 days or less.

Only 666 of the signatures must be deemed valid to trigger a recall election in May of 2024.

Starting at $3.23/week.
