KINGSFORD -- The Kingsford Centennial car cruise and parade will take place Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.
This is an opportunity to see parade grand marshals Rick and Marty Lagina from the History Channel series "The Curse of Oak Island," along with the many businesses that will present a series of floats.
The parade theme is "A Century of Toys/Games Through the Eyes of a Child." A special treat for the parade will the Ahmed Shrine clowns, along with the Ahmed Li'L Indys.
Kicking off the parade is the Centennial's own "Woodward Cruise," which will begin at 9 a.m. from Kingsford High School.
The route will be Kimberly Avenue to Woodward Avenue to Balsam Street, heading south on Balsam to Pyle Drive. The cruise then goes east on Pyle Drive around the bend onto Hooper Street, heading south on Hooper to Breitung Avenue and Venue 906.
From there, the cars will be directed for parking for the car show. The commercial parade will immediately follow the car cruise but will end at Kingsford High School, just off Pyle Drive.
Car owners registering for Saturday's show will receive one free entrance bracelet for the centennial celebration at Lodal Park.
Car owners who bring their show vehicle to pre-register Friday afternoon will receive an admission bracelet for Friday night as well. Registration is $5 per show vehicle.
The show will have 12 classes of competition. Trophies will be awarded for first and second place in each class. A "Best of Show" will be selected as well as "Best Pontiac" -- in memory of Jeff DeRidder -- and a "Best Ford."
Anyone who has a centennial bracelet can get free parking plus free admission to the car show. Otherwise, admission to just the car show will be $5 per person, with a maximum of $10 for a family. Ages 12 and younger are admitted free.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase at Venue 906.
