Drug diversion program receives grant

By: The Daily news

MENOMINEE — The Marinette County District Attorney’s office has been awarded a $3,945 grant from the M&M Area Community Foundation’s Alcohol and Other Drugs Fund. The grant will be utilized to acquire drug testing supplies for the county’s drug diversion program, marking a significant milestone as the first program of its kind in the community.

Participants are in the program for two to three years and benefit from a comprehensive network of community partners, including law enforcement, probation and parole, private treatment providers, local employers and community organizations.

This voluntary program aims to assist individuals working towards improving their status with the court system.

Stephanie Timblin, diversion coordinator, emphasized the significance of drug testing to ensure program participants receive the treatment they need.

“Drug testing is essential to not only holding participants accountable but for assessing and adjusting their course of treatment based on their needs. Without accountability for a participant’s sobriety, the strength and effectiveness of the program is sacrificed,” Timblin said.

Starting at $3.23/week.
