Giving God credit

To the Journal editor:

Some more positive reasons for those of us who call the Upper Peninsula of Michigan our home.

One has to slow down in our fast moving world otherwise you will miss the great sights we have. Just look out your window, most can see wooded areas and even our animal friends, deer, rabbits, squirrels and birds, to name a few.

If you can drive, it’s not too long and you’re out in the country side. Lots of quiet areas to relax. Rivers and parks to see and our great Lake Superior.

Plus, we don’t have the same weather every day. I have experienced different weather around the world. In Hawaii its nice every day but you can’t go far in the middle of the Pacific on an island.

Then, in Miami, Florida, with hot, humid conditions and hurricanes. Floods at times. In the Philippines, where it’s hot and humid all the time and Arizona at 120 degrees in the summer and mostly desert.

In the Rocky Mountains, some places you can’t go with the high mountains and rough terrain. California has fires, floods and it is quite hot with a lot of people. Japan was not too bad changes of weather like here but people take care of each other.

The places I’ve been serving my country in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Coast Guard for 10 years. I traveled a lot but I was lucky to come back to our beautiful U.P. of Michigan.

Very nice place to call home. More trees than people and good people that live here so enjoy it while you can. It’s called God’s Country.

Thank the Lord for our home.
