There was a lot of excitement in Alger County last Tuesday as my daughter and I witnessed a set of amphibious water scooper aircraft repeatedly skim the waters of Lake Superior in Munising Bay and make their way to Lost Lake for a reported forest fire. This went on for over an hour, making multiple trips to the lake. It was fascinating to watch and the accuracy in which the pilots skirted the lake to collect water was remarkable.
