News from the Greater Munising area: Night life in Munising

Whether you’re looking for something fun to do after a sunset cruise or dining out at one of Munising’s fine establishments, the little town is home to craft breweries, bars and a beautiful venue space where live music and entertainment can be enjoyed year-round in the heart of downtown.

Coffeehouse by day and venue by night, Gallery Coffee Company sits on the corner of Elm Avenue and Superior Street in a large, refurbished brick building. The refined tin ceiling and hardwood floors preserve the structure’s historical attributes while colorful photographs featuring the area’s impressive landscapes – like the Pictured Rocks – adorn the walls.

The stage is centrally located for live performances and at night, there’s a full-service bar. Here, you’ll see a blend of local performers and bands from across the globe.

Whisky Dick’s, which is across the street from Gallery Coffee Company, and the Barge Inn – two blocks to the east, are also options if you want pool tables, darts, mixed drinks, and good company. Both establishments often have bands on the weekends, especially during the summer and fall.

Looking for something a little more lowkey? East Channel Brewing Company and ByGeorge Brewing Company, two locally owned and operated craft breweries in town, both provide live music and entertainment throughout the year as well. Not a big beer fan? No problem. The breweries offer numerous alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages too.

During the warmer seasons, East Channel is home to the Cooking Carberry’s Woodfired Pizza. Pizzas can be ordered until 9 p.m. every day. Be sure to try the savory blueberry, a local favorite.

ByGeorge’s sister company, Driftwood Deli, which is adjacent to the brewery, also serves delicious food, such as paninis, sandwiches, vegetarian options, wings and more. They also have a takeout cooler if you want a quick bite to eat or something for later after enjoying a craft beverage at the brewery.
