MARQUETTE–6th Degree Black Belt Master Joyce Tredeau is celebrating her 30th year of teaching martial arts in Marquette County.

Tredeau earned a 1st Degree Black Belt in Monroe, Michigan before moving to Marquette.

She started teaching in her first Studio at Father Marquette Elementary School on Oct. 7, 1992.

Tredeau has taught Korean Karate and Self Defense at multiple locations and has updated the studio name to “Spirit Warrior Karate Academy.”

Well over 1,000 members of the Marquette community have learned martial arts from Tredeau.

Dozens of those students have been promoted to Black Belt.

Tredeau is a Certified Master Instructor in the American Tang Soo Do Association and serves on the Executive Council of the organization, as well as being the Webmaster.

She offers Tang Soo Do Korean Karate in Marquette and Ishpeming.
