Two arraigned on drug charges
BARAGA — Two people were arraigned in 97th District Court in Baraga County Monday after arrested for suspected involvement in drug trafficking last week.
Prince Preston and Madisson Tikkanen were arrested for possession of cocaine after a traffic stop near Covington Thursday after a four-month Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team investigation.
Detectives were able to determine that the suspects were traveling back from Milwaukee on Sept. 15 and set up surveillance to locate the vehicle. The vehicle was located on U.S. 141 and a traffic stop was conducted by the the Michigan State Police Hometown Security Team near Covington.
Authorities believed the pair had been bringing large quantities of fentanyl into the area, UPSET said in a release Thursday.

Additional charges, including a 20-year charge of possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, are anticipated but have yet to be charged.
Preston’s bond was set at $100,000 cash surety; Tikkanen’s was set at $50,000.
Probable cause conferences for both are scheduled for Sept. 27. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for Oct. 4.
