Norway schools to end mask requirements for older students
NORWAY — Students in grades seven through 12 at Norway-Vulcan Area Schools will not be required to wear facial coverings when they return to class today.
In an email to families Friday afternoon, district officials stated the number of COVID-19 cases had dropped to the point that students at the middle and high school levels would no longer be mandated to wear masks in school.
“As of (Friday), we have been below 8% of our seventh- to 12th-graders quarantined or COVID-19 positive since Monday, Oct. 25,” the email read.
The Norway-Vulcan Area Schools board approved the mask policy by a 5-2 vote at its September meeting.
