14 new virus cases in Delta County

ESCANABA — Delta County has added 14 new confirmed COVID-19 positives since Monday, local data indicated Friday.

In its report, local health officials Friday also listed six more confirmed cases in Menominee County since Monday and one new probable case, while Delta County had two new probable positives as well.

The Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties website Friday had Delta County at 3,381 confirmed positives, 725 probable cases and 94 deaths. Menominee County has had 1,815 confirmed positives, 336 probable and 40 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

At the state level Friday, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website for the three-day period since Tuesday showed 34 new confirmed positives in the U.P.: nine in Delta County; five in Menominee and Marquette counties; four in Chippewa County; three in Dickinson County; two in Baraga and Ontonagon counties; and one in Schoolcraft, Iron, Luce and Gogebic counties.

Using only the MDHHS figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 20,290 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 445 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Friday had Keweenaw County at 142 confirmed cases and 32 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 228 confirmed cases and 254 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 323 confirmed, 196 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 356 confirmed cases and 85 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 426 confirmed, 62 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 464 confirmed cases and 256 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 697 confirmed cases, 130 probable and 39 deaths; Iron County, 1,005 confirmed cases and 72 probable, 43 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,084 confirmed cases and 365 probable, 24 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,126 confirmed cases and 1,436 probable, and 29 deaths, six probable; Menominee County, 1,811 confirmed cases, 334 probable and 41 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,435 confirmed cases and 347 probable, 59 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,547 confirmed cases, 609 probable, 35 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,375 confirmed cases and 718 probable, 76 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,271 confirmed cases, 829 probable and 63 deaths, one probable.

State figures are updated regularly but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Friday had 2,250 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan, or an average of 750 per day since its last update Tuesday, for a total to date of 903,933. The state Friday added 19 deaths attributed to the virus — including nine that occurred earlier but were later verified through a vital records review — to reach 19,921.

The state earlier this month began posting new COVID data only twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays.
