IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department will offer another round of scheduling next week for residents age 18 and older who want the COVID-19 vaccine.

Scheduling for both counties will begin at 8 a.m. Monday, both online through a link posted on didhd.org and by calling 906-774-1868 for Dickinson County and 906-265-9913 for Iron County.

Appointments can be made in either county but are limited to residents of Dickinson and Iron counties only; a photo ID will be required to verify residency.

Dickinson County will administer the Moderna vaccine Friday and the Pfizer vaccine on Thursday, April 22. Iron County will offer the Johnson & Johnson vaccine — which requires only one shot — Friday and the Pfizer vaccine Thursday, April 22.

Appointments are required to receive the vaccine; no walk-ins will be accepted. These clinics are for those who have not yet received a first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. Those who may have missed a second shot are asked to contact their county’s DIDHD office by telephone.

Consent forms and other information regarding COVID-19 can be found at didhd.org. Those scheduled for vaccination are asked to print and fill out the online consent form in advance if possible to help keep the clinic flow moving. Consent forms also will be available at the clinics.

Mass clinics have been set up at off-site locations:

— Dickinson County: Dickinson County Fairgrounds, Yellow Administration Building, Norway.

— Iron County: Forest Park School, east entrance near the parking lot by the bus garage, Crystal Falls.

To help maintain social distancing, do not arrive early.

Those scheduled who are unable to attend for any reason should call to cancel so that doses can be rescheduled for others.

The number of new COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula topped 100 on Friday, reflecting a statewide surge of coronavirus activity in Michigan.

For the U.P., the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Friday listed 102 new confirmed positives: 29 in Marquette County; 18 in Delta County; 10 in Dickinson, Houghton and Chippewa counties; six in Mackinac County; five in Menominee and Gogebic County; three in Schoolcraft and Keweenaw counties; and one each in Iron, Luce and Alger counties. Only Baraga and Ontonagon counties had no change.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 17,771 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 400 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Friday had Keweenaw County at 128 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 149 confirmed cases and 148 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 272 confirmed cases and 50 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 294 confirmed, 173 probable and one death, four probable; Mackinac County, 343 confirmed cases and 192 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 378 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 524 confirmed cases, 110 probable and 33 deaths; Iron County, 890 confirmed cases and 62 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Chippewa County, 913 confirmed cases and 1,243 probable, and 25 deaths, five probable; Gogebic County, 982 confirmed cases and 357 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,673 confirmed cases, 290 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,233 confirmed cases and 271 probable, 55 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,331 confirmed cases, 568 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 2,894 confirmed cases and 540 probable, 68 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,767 confirmed cases, 690 probable and 55 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Friday posted 7,834 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total of 731,131. The state added 26 new deaths to reach 16,426.

In Wisconsin, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Friday had three new confirmed positives in Marinette County and two in Vilas County.

The DHS on Friday had Marinette County with 4,021 confirmed cases, 422 probable cases and 65 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,203 confirmed, 142 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 941 confirmed, 75 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 570 confirmed, 116 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 435 confirmed, 50 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 1,092 new positives Friday for a total of 583,935 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state listed five new deaths Friday to reach 6,672.
