Stuff A Blue Goose events planned

MARQUETTE — Troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post and five grocery stores in Baraga and Houghton counties will be working together to host “Stuff A Blue Goose” charity events to raise hunger awareness and provide food to local food pantries.

Troopers will be at Pat’s Foods in L’Anse and Calumet, Econo Foods in Houghton, Louie’s Super Foods in Lake Linden and Larry’s Market in Baraga to assist in the collection of donated food items and to answer questions. A “Blue Goose” patrol car will be at the sites to haul donated items to local pantries at the conclusion of the events.

All grocery stores will have pre-made grab bags available for the public to purchase which will be stuffed in the “Blue Goose.” Each bag will be filled with non perishable food items valued at $10 or more. Non perishable food items may also be donated.

The events are being held in conjunction with the 2019 Michigan Harvest Gathering Campaign.

Events will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Econo Foods in Houghton; from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Pat’s Foods in Calumet and L’Anse; and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Louie’s Super Foods in Lake Linden.
