Ironwood firefighters battle blaze

IRONWOOD — The Ironwood Public Safety Fire Division battled a fire at the Pines Cafe at 120 S. Suffolk St. on Sunday.

IPS reported that at 5:35 p.m. Its fire division responded to a structure fire downtown. Arriving units discovered an active fire on the second floor.

The fire was contained at 5:55 p.m.

One individual at the venue was transported to Aspirus Ironwood Hospital for smoke inhalation.

Agencies assisting Ironwood Public Safety included the Hurley Fire Department, Beacon Ambulance, the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office and the Michigan State Police Wakefield Post.
